The short answer: usually yes.
Under the Affordable Care Act, preventive nutrition counseling for obesity is covered at no cost to you on most commercial plans. If your doctor has referred you for Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) — for diabetes, prediabetes, kidney disease, or another qualifying condition — your visits are typically covered at $0 copay.
Medicare Part B covers Medical Nutrition Therapy for diabetes and chronic kidney disease (pre-dialysis) at 100% — meaning $0 out of pocket for beneficiaries who meet the criteria.
We accept the most common plans in the Sugar Land and Fort Bend County area. Before your first appointment, we run a complimentary benefits verification so you know your exact copay, deductible status, and number of covered visits.
